Are LLLL.com Prices Decreasing? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 17 June 2008

Most people are wondering just how low the LLLL.coms may go.  Afterall the same low quality domains that were fetching $70 in in February, are now just selling for around $30.  Will they go lower?  Will they go higher?  Will they stay the same?  Those are some of the questions that are on everyone's minds.   We at 4LTR.org have also been monitoring prices with great interest.  Our current take on the situation is that the prices seem to be stabilizing right now.  We are not sure how fast LLLL.coms will rise or fall, as there is no historical basis to make a judgment call on, however, we can tell you that historically, most short .com domain prices have continued to rise in the long run .

For example, in July of 2005 the worst NNL.coms were going for $30 which is similar to what the worst LLLL.coms are selling for today. By July of 2006 they were at $65, July of 2007 $150 and by April of this year they were starting at $225. Anyway you look at them, those who held on to their NNL.coms were the big winners as the price increase was greater than the registration fee ..(cont.)

Our friends at Zesty Domains whom publish 3character.com tend to believe that short domains in general are alive and doing well and their price guides reflect this fact.  From January until April of 08 prices have gone up and not down.

January 08 vs April 08
LLN$215...........LLN$245
LNN$185...........LNN$215
LNL$175...........LNL$200
NLL$175...........NLL$200
NNL$200...........NNL$225
NLN$170...........NLN$200
L-L$2000...........L-L$2450
N-N$1000...........N-N$1300
L-N$600...........L-N$650

So should we abandon LLLL.coms right now and run after LLL.coms and CCC.coms?
Well, we won't tell you what to do, however, we will tell you that alhtough the LLLL.coms have dropped in recent months from 800% returns on the worst LLLL.coms to the current 300% returns, LLLL.com investor's seeem to be the big winner's this year as LLL.coms values only jumped by about 25% whereas, those LLLL.com domains that were bought for $7 in October, are now selling for more than $30. Further, since more people can afford LLLL.coms, we believe that they will probably rise at a greater percentage rate than the LLL.coms for quite a few years.

Below are some opinions posted by some of our friends online....

LLLL.com are more in the price range of the average company. Let's say you are a small company called "QYZ" for example. Is that person more likely going to try to acquire "QYZ.com" for close to $10K or why not go after something like QYZO.com (QYZ Online), QYZC.com (QYZ Company/Corporation) for about 1/100th of the price.

I think LLL.com will still go up, but I don't think there is any debate the % gain will be slower than the LLLL.com market since the price range for LLLL.com is in most end users ballpark.

If LLL.com stays strong, then quality LLLL.com must stay strong, infact all domain names that are .com and high quality must stay strong, as there is a pattern between them, quality domain names are an interrelated investment

Most of the time I have a continuous flow of domain names on auction on ebay, I would have to see a price drop on my domain name sales overall from 2007, but I am only seeing price rises, this is evident on other sellers I am watching too

I am not just a short domain investor, I am the jack of all trades .com investor,

I am seeing strong prices for all decent domain names, if the market was spiraling this simply would not be happening.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm really taking advantage of the lower prices of good quality LLLL.com's. I'm also buying some lower quality domains for around $25 - $35 each. Paying registration fees for the next couple years is no concern to me as I look at the LLLL.com market as a long term investment. I believe prices of LLLL.com's will continue to rise due to the fact that people are buying up a lot of LLLL.net's and some are even starting to buy LLLL.org's (I own a few).

I also believe they'll rise quicker in value than LLL.coms for many years to come.

For LLL.coms to increase 30% per year, it would take under 12 years before they hit $230,000 per. That's preposterous to even consider imho.

Consider LLLL.coms over the same 12 year timeframe, assuming a minimum wholesale of $25 today. At 30% per year, that amounts to $582 per, or about equal to today's CCC.com prices (eg. $200s) factoring in real inflation.

We are just having a market correction due to the realisation that LLLL.com are
not 100% backordered yet. This is still to come. Expect more LLLL.com excitement
in the future.

They have to go down and hit rock bottom price before they go up again, and when
they go up this time, they will always go
up!
