I enjoy collecting qoutes and opinions posted online in regards to short domain investing. I've got several hundred, however, below are a few random ones. They help me with some of my investments, they also are great when you want to respond to something to a forum, but, don't have time to think up anything new or creative to say. I'll post more later as I have more time.
HTML clipboardIt just seems like the .net has dropped significantly in value in just a year and there are no indications that some bigger sales for .net have occurred this year. With new TLDs like .biz and .info; and the ccTLD .us. I think we might find ourselves in a situation where .net will become worthless (Unless you are the owner of some of the better domains or should I say best). Any comments? Posted to DNForum 7/2002
There have been many recent posts about the value of 3-letter .com, net, or orgs. That is because some posts give them reasonable value. The problem is that sometimes 3 UNIT domains as described as 3-LETTER domain!
So to insure that your question appropriately describes the domain you want appraised, is the domain pattern - letter, letter, letter .dot net [called an LLL pattern]? If not, there are thousands++ of unregistered NLL, LNL, LLN, NNL, & NLL .NETS available. 95% of them are not worth the reg fee or they would have already been registered.Less than a year and half ago, those thousands of domains could have sold for hundreds of dollars up – now they drop daily.So, assuming that you have a true three letter domain – most members will not respond to your post. The 3 letter .nets you have are worth $35 max a piece and $175 - $200 max as a package. Look through some of the sales thread. Low level 3 letter .nets sale for $30 or $35 a piece. It's just the life of the DN business here at the DNF. Go somewhere else if you want $200+ for a bad 3 letter .net. Posted to DNForum 6/2003
I like the pure 3 letter (LLL) and 3 number (###) in .com, .net, and w/ good groupings in other tld's. I agree that the market for particular categories and genres does seem to dramatically ebb and flow at times, but am not sure there has been enough internet history, at this point, to distinguish between meaningful cycles and passing fads and trends. I would give fair valuation of a "junk" three letter .com of around $300-400, though inflated sales do occur because of a perceived rareness of three letter domains and the novelty of owning one. If you were to contact owners of many of these existing 17,000+ names I expect you would find many negotiable in that price range or lower. Posted to Namepros 5/2004
About 3 years ago, I also sold a package of 3 3 letter .nets for 575. 2 of them were close in quality to the one being discussed here - and it's important to note that I sold them during the fallout of the bubble bursting. I think $450 is on the very low end of the reseller pricing - I wouldn't sell bca.net for twice that amount, even to a reseller. Posted on DNForum 10/2005
"E" and "B" are considedered "premium" letters for LLL (letter-letter-letter).com names. LLL.com names with 2 premium letters are valued at about $2200 minimum. Posted to Namepros 3/2006
